Banana
Bananas are such a convenient snack and are often a staple food in peoples’ diets. They are also a super confusing food when you first start the low FODMAP diet. The banana type, size and ripeness can all affect the FODMAP levels.
In A Little Bit Yummy recipes, we use standard common bananas (not sugar bananas) which have a low FODMAP serving size.Â
How much is low FODMAP?
You can enjoy 1 medium firm common banana while on the low FODMAP diet. Firm means a banana that doesn’t have brown spots and is green or pale yellow. Make sure you avoid larger serves until the FODMAP Reintroduction phase. If you are cooking with ripe banana then limit your serving to 35g (about ⅓ of a medium banana). Make sure you check out the Monash University FODMAP Diet App for more information.
