Sweet Potato
Sweet potato (also called kumara) is delicious mashed, roasted or boiled. It also doesn’t have to be off limits in the first phase of the low FODMAP diet. Instead, you just need to be mindful of your serving size. We suggest weighing out your portion of sweet potato and comparing it to your hand. This will give you an easy reference point to use when you cook with it at a later date.
How much is low FODMAP?
You can enjoy a 1/2 cup serving (or about 75g) of sweet potato per meal. The weight amount is for raw sweet potato. Just avoid larger servings until you have completed your FODMAP reintroductions. Check the Monash University FODMAP Diet App for more information about this food.
