Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the low FODMAP diet for?

The Low FODMAP diet is a medical diet that has been proven to help up to 80% of people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome significantly reduce their symptoms(2). The diet is also being used with care to help people with coeliac disease, endometriosis and inflammatory bowel disease manage symptoms (if you have one of these conditions please talk to your doctor before starting the diet).

The low FODMAP diet can help decrease bloating, reduce abdominal cramps, improve bowel motions, improve your overall wellbeing, and help you gain clarity around your food triggers.

It is a three-step process:

  1. Remove high FODMAP foods to see if your symptoms improve. This is called the low FODMAP diet phase or elimination phase.
  2. Systematically test each of the high FODMAP food groups to see which ones trigger your symptoms. This is called the reintroduction phase.
  3. Move onto a flexible FODMAP diet that contains a mixture of high and low FODMAP foods while keeping your symptoms settled. This is called the adapted FODMAP phase.

Our FODMAP Wellness Club will guide you through each of these phases so you can learn to settle your symptoms and eat with confidence.

Are there resources for the FODMAP elimination phase and reintroduction phase?

There sure are. All our recipes and meal plans are suitable for the first elimination phase of the low FODMAP diet. In the Wellness Club you can also access a 6 week FODMAP101 online course that guides you through the first phase of the diet, then you can move onto our FODMAP Reintroduction online course that teaches you how to reintroduce high FODMAP foods and identify foods that trigger your symptoms. We also have a range of dietitian-led online group classes that you can join on different gut health and FODMAP topics.

Do you have gluten free and allergy friendly options?

Yes we do! Over 98% of our recipes have gluten free options that are suitable for people with coeliac disease. We also have a wide range of egg free, dairy free, nut free, or soy free options.

Can I customise the serving sizes and measurement units of recipes/meal plans?

Yes, you can. The serving sizes in the recipes and meal plans are scalable so you can adjust them to feed just yourself or your family/friends. You can also choose to cook in grams or ounces.

Are there printable versions of recipes?

All of our recipes can be printed. That means if you don’t like cooking from your device, you can print the recipe and take it into the kitchen with you.

Are there vegan low FODMAP recipes & meal plans?

Yes! Through our Wellness Club you can access 8 weeks of nutritionally balanced vegan and vegetarian meal plans. We also have lots of low FODMAP recipes for you to enjoy – there are 330+ vegetarian recipes of which 250+ recipes are suitable for vegans. You can access these recipes via the Recipe Club or Wellness Club.

What online support do you offer?

As a FODMAP Club member we can help you find low FODMAP products, adapt your recipes, and answer general low FODMAP or gut health related questions via email or chat support.

Are A Little Bit Yummy resources credible?

They sure are. In the past, Alana was a recipe writer for the Monash University FODMAP team and she has extensive knowledge on how to create low FODMAP recipes that don’t contain FODMAP stacking.

A Little Bit Yummy has been used in Low FODMAP Research Studies by The University of Otago, and has been mentioned as a credible resource in medical journal articles in ‘Practical Gastroenterology’ and ‘Nutrition in Clinical Practice’.

And to top everything off we have world leading FODMAP trained dietitians on hand to answer questions and review content so you can eat with confidence.
